“I used to dream what this place was,” Eris said. “I thought it was an old shipwreck, or another forest I could get lost in.”
She sighed. Were it only that simple.
Pieces of armor lay splayed on the floor, the skeletons that held them together washed away by time. A bronze spear had been driven through a breastplate, and a pair of gauntlets wrapped themselves around the weapon, frozen in its attempt to pull it out. She touched the crusted spear but it dissolved under her fingers, the black flecks drifting away with the evening wind.
